Scope of this calculator

Scope in

  • Private-sector workers under the Saudi Labour Law end-of-service award articles.
  • Last monthly wage as recorded in the contract or payroll.
  • Service dates converted to years, with the resignation tiers applied.

Scope out

  • Government and public-sector employment.
  • Article 80 serious-misconduct cases, which need case-by-case review.
  • Domestic workers under separate regulations.
  • Amounts already settled or contested before the labour authority.

Worked example

Last monthly wage SAR 7,000, service 7 years, employer termination. This tool follows the convention used in its own script: service is the calendar days between your two dates divided by 365, the first five years earn half a month each and later years earn a full month each. That gives 7,000 x 0.5 x 5 = 17,500 plus 7,000 x 2 = 14,000, so about SAR 31,500 as an estimate.

Mini-example: the same figures with resignation at 7 years apply the two-thirds tier, giving about SAR 21,000.

How this calculator works

Article 84 provides half a month’s last wage for each of the first five years and one month’s wage per later year, with pro-rata service. Article 85 contains resignation tiers.

Common questions

Short answers for using this tool responsibly.

How is the Saudi end-of-service award split across service years?

The award is half a month of the last wage for each of the first five years and one month for each year after that, with fractions of a year treated proportionally in this tool; confirm against your contract and the cited source.

Does resigning reduce the award?

Resignation applies a tiered share of the award based on completed service, and this tool uses nothing below two years, one third up to five years, two thirds up to ten years and the full award after ten years; confirm against your contract and the cited source.

What counts as the last wage here?

The calculation uses the last monthly wage as legally defined, including wage components that are legally due, so a payslip figure may need adjustment before it is entered; confirm against your contract and the cited source.

What happens in an Article 80 dismissal?

Article 80 grounds and other special termination cases are not calculated here and return a manual-review message instead, because the outcome depends on the facts and the authority view; confirm against your contract and the cited source.

Can a resigning worker still receive the full award?

Yes, statutory exceptions such as the Article 87 situations can give a full award despite resignation, and those cases sit outside the tiered treatment shown here; confirm against your contract and the cited source.

When should the award be paid?

The end-of-service award forms part of the final settlement once the relationship ends, and unresolved amounts can be raised through the labour dispute route; confirm against your contract and the cited source.
