Scope of this checklist

Scope in

  • Preparation review for a sponsor planning a Qatar family-residence application.
  • Published private-sector salary and specialized-profession preparation benchmarks.
  • Document readiness signals such as passport validity and relationship documents.

Scope out

  • Any approval, refusal or eligibility decision, which only the Ministry of Interior makes.
  • A universal family-visa fee or processing timeline.
  • Government-sector and other sponsor routes, which need direct confirmation.
  • Family categories outside spouse and child planning.

Worked example

Example only: a private-sector sponsor in a specialized profession, monthly salary QAR 10,000, no employer family accommodation, applicant passport valid 18 months and attested relationship documents ready. The checker compares those facts with the published benchmarks and lists readiness signals and gaps; it does not produce an amount or an approval.

Mini-example: QAR 6,500 with employer-provided family accommodation returns an official-source conflict because the current MOI service page lists QAR 6,000 while an older MOI conditions page lists QAR 7,000. Confirm the live Metrash route or ask MOI.

How this checklist works

The checker compares your selected facts with the published private-sector salary, specialized-job and employer-accommodation conditions, then lists document and authority-review steps. It does not calculate a universal family-visa fee or grant approval.

Common questions

Short answers for using this tool responsibly.

Does meeting the salary benchmark mean the family visa is approved?

No, the benchmark is only a published preparation condition, and the Ministry of Interior still decides eligibility, document acceptance and approval case by case; confirm against the official portal and the cited source.

Which salary level is used for the private-sector route here?

The current MOI service page lists QAR 10,000, or QAR 6,000 with employer-provided family housing recorded in the employment contract. An older official conditions page lists QAR 7,000 with housing, so QAR 6,000–6,999 is shown as a source conflict rather than approval or failure.

Why does the profession type matter?

The published route is aimed at technical and specialized non-labour professions, so the checker asks you to confirm the profession category before treating the private-sector signals as met; confirm against the official portal and the cited source.

Which documents should be ready before applying?

Attested marriage and birth certificates, a valid passport for the applicant, accommodation evidence and the medical and identity steps are the usual preparation items flagged here; confirm against the official portal and the cited source.

How much does a Qatar family residence permit cost?

This page publishes no fee, because charges and medical and identity steps vary by case and change over time, so the official channel is the only reliable amount; confirm against the official portal and the cited source.

Can a government-sector sponsor use this checker?

Government and public-sector sponsors follow separate conditions that this page does not model, so their result only points to direct Ministry of Interior confirmation; confirm against the official portal and the cited source.

Qatar family residence visa requirements: official source check

Official source pages rechecked 10 October 2026. Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has two official English pages that currently show different housing-route salary figures. The current Family Residence Visa service page says a private-sector employee needs a salary of at least QAR 10,000, or QAR 6,000 with family housing provided by the employer and recorded in the employment contract. A separate, older MOI conditions page says QAR 10,000, or QAR 7,000 with family housing.

!
Why the checker shows a conflict: the current MOI service page lists QAR 6,000 with accredited employer family housing, while the older MOI conditions page lists QAR 7,000. Salaries from QAR 6,000 to QAR 6,999 are therefore shown as manual review, not approval or failure. Check Metrash or ask MOI which condition applies to your file.

Quick checklist before you use the checker

  • The sponsor must hold a valid Qatar work residence permit.
  • For the private-sector route, the MOI service page describes a technical or specialised, non-labour profession accredited by the employment contract.
  • Employer-provided family housing is not the same as adding a cash housing allowance yourself. The current service page ties the lower threshold to housing provided by the employer and accredited in the employment contract.
  • Prepare valid passport copies for the sponsor and family members and the documents that prove the relationship.
  • The current service page also lists a good-conduct certificate for family members aged 18 or above and health insurance for the stay.
  • Use Metrash for the electronic application and follow the current upload prompts. The service page, not this checker, controls the final requirement.

Government and private-sector routes are different

Government and semi-government employees

The current MOI service page says the profession should be a senior profession supported by an employment contract or official employer letter. It also refers to employer family housing or a minimum monthly salary of QAR 10,000. Confirm the exact route shown for your employer in Metrash.

Private-sector employees

The service page links the route to a technical or specialised non-labour profession supported by the employment contract. It states QAR 10,000, or QAR 6,000 with employer-provided family housing. Because the older official conditions page still shows QAR 7,000 with housing, people between QAR 6,000 and QAR 6,999 should treat any online result as a manual-review case.

Documents mentioned on the official pages

The current MOI service page lists a valid sponsor residence permit, sponsor passport copy, proof of the family relationship, good-conduct evidence for family members aged 18 or above, and health insurance. The older MOI conditions page additionally refers to an attested marriage certificate and, for private-sector sponsors, a six-month bank statement, notarised employment contract and educational certificate used to support the profession.

These are not a universal upload promise. The exact list can depend on the family member, sponsor record and current service workflow. Use the live application screen as the final checklist.

How to use this readiness result

  1. Enter the sponsor’s actual employment sector, salary and employer-housing status.
  2. Select the profession category only if it matches the official employment record.
  3. Check passport validity and relationship-document readiness.
  4. Read every warning in the result. “Ready to prepare” means only that the entered facts match this page’s conservative screening rules.
  5. Open the official MOI service before submitting, paying or booking travel.

Important limitation

Gulf Expat Tools is an educational planning site, not Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and not a visa filing service. The checker cannot see your Metrash record, profession classification, employer file, family relationship or any case-specific request. MOI decides acceptance and may update its pages or service workflow without notice.
