Qatar family residence visa salary: the short answer
- Private sector without employer family housing: the current MOI service page states a minimum salary of QAR 10,000.
- Private sector with employer-provided family housing: the current service page states QAR 6,000, while the older MOI conditions page states QAR 7,000.
- Government and semi-government: the service page describes a senior profession supported by an employment contract or employer letter, plus employer family housing or a minimum salary of QAR 10,000.
The MOI pages use the word “salary.” They do not say on these pages that you may build the threshold by adding overtime, bonuses or unrelated payments. Do not convert a cash housing allowance into “employer-provided family housing” unless the official employment record and live service treat it that way.
Why official MOI pages show QAR 6,000 and QAR 7,000
The Family Residence Visa service detail currently says QAR 10,000 or QAR 6,000 with employer-provided family housing. The separate MOI approval-conditions page says QAR 10,000 or QAR 7,000 with family housing.
Both pages are on the official portal, but they are not synchronized. For applicants earning QAR 6,000–6,999 with employer housing, an online checker cannot safely decide which figure MOI will apply. Check the live Metrash eligibility screen or contact MOI. Our checker deliberately treats the higher figure as a conservative preparation signal while the conflict remains.
Private-sector profession requirement
The current service page describes the private-sector sponsor as holding a technical or specialised, non-labour profession accredited by the employment contract. That means salary is not the only input. Use the profession recorded in the official employment and residence records, not an informal job title.
If the recorded profession does not match the work or contract, resolve that record with the employer and competent authority before treating this checklist as complete. Gulf Expat Tools cannot classify a profession or predict how an officer will assess it.
What counts as the housing route
The lower salary route on the current service page is tied to family housing provided by the employer and accredited in the employment contract. A tenant’s personal lease, reimbursement or cash housing allowance is not described there as the same thing.
If your employer provides accommodation, check that the employment contract and employer evidence describe family housing clearly. If the record only shows an allowance, use the live MOI service to confirm whether your file is assessed under the QAR 10,000 route.

The current Family Residence Visa service page lists these preparation items:
- application submitted electronically through Metrash;
- a valid Qatar work residence permit for the sponsor;
- a valid passport copy of the sponsor;
- documents proving the family relationship;
- a good-conduct certificate for family members aged 18 or above;
- health insurance for the duration of stay.
The older MOI conditions page also refers to an attested marriage certificate. For private-sector employees it mentions a six-month bank statement from an accredited bank, a notarised employment contract and a copy of the educational certificate used to support the profession. Because the two pages are not identical, follow the documents requested in the current Metrash application for the person and sponsor type concerned.
Step-by-step preparation
- Confirm the sponsor record. Check that the Qatar ID/residence permit and employment record are valid.
- Match the employer route. Separate government or semi-government employment from the private-sector route.
- Read the recorded profession. For a private-sector case, compare it with the MOI wording for a technical or specialised non-labour profession.
- Check salary and housing separately. Record the salary shown in the official employment evidence, then identify whether the employer actually provides family housing.
- Prepare relationship evidence. Keep the marriage or birth documents requested for the family member and check current attestation and translation instructions.
- Prepare adult-family evidence. The current service page lists a good-conduct certificate for family members aged 18 or above.
- Check insurance. The service page lists health insurance for the duration of stay.
- Submit through the official route. Use Metrash and respond only to the current upload fields or an official MOI request.
